Virginia L. Davis

Virginia L. Davis, 84, of Chetopa, died at 5:15 a.m., Saturday, July 25, 2020 at the Chetopa Manor in Chetopa, Kansas.

She was born on April 8, 1936, in Pittsburg, Kansas to Elmer C. and Lilly (Ferraro) Getto.  She moved with her family to Chetopa where she graduated from High School in 1953.  Virginia began working at Riggs Drug Store and the Chetopa Ice Plant.  Later, she worked for the Chetopa School district as a paraprofessional until retiring.

She enjoyed cooking, fishing, crocheting, and taking care of her lawn.  She also enjoyed singing and was a member of the "Versatiles" singing group.

Virginia was a member of former Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chetopa and a current member of St. Ann Parish in Welch, Oklahoma.

She and George W. Davis were married on December 26, 1953 at Mother of God Catholic Church in Oswego.  He survives of the home.

One Daughter – Deborah Cassell and her husband John            Columbus, Kansas

Eight grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren

She was preceded in death by one sister, Frances L. Hughes.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa.  Burial will follow in St. Rose Cemetery at Chetopa.  The rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 27, 2020 at the funeral home.  The family will receive friends following the rosary at 7:30.
