Virginia R. Gudde, 92, of Parsons, passed away at 2:04 p.m., Thursday, May 19, 2016 at her home.
She was born August 16, 1923 in La Harpe, Kansas to Charles Lester and Effie Lovicia (Greene) Norman. As a young girl, she attended country schools at La Harpe until 8th grade. She then moved with her family to Moran, Kansas where she graduated from Moran High School.
On April 16, 1943, she married John Allen Gudde at Fort Rucker, Alabama. Following marriage, the couple lived in rural Moran, Erie, and Altamont before moving in 1946 to Parsons where they made their home and raised their family of ten children.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and its Altar Society. She enjoyed needlework, playing cards, and working crossword puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Gudde, on April 24, 1981; fourteen siblings, and two grandchildren.
The funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 21, 2016 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m., Friday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The family will receive friends at 7:30 p.m., on Friday, at the funeral home immediately following the rosary.
