Virginia H. Simone

Virginia H. Simone, 93, of Oswego, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2014 at her home. She was born August 11, 1921 in Rill, Missouri to Robert and Sarah (Back) Hall. As a young girl, she lived in Atchison were she attended elementary school. They later moved to Oswego where she graduated from Oswego High School. During World War II, she worked at the Kansas Ordnance Plant. On September 8, 1939, she and Louis G. Simone were married in Columbus. Following marriage, they lived in Oswego where she worked in Dr. Waxse's office briefly. Mr. Simone preceded her in death on December 29, 1974. In earlier years, she attended the First Baptist Church in Oswego. She enjoyed spending time with her family, fishing, bowling, and was an avid KU Jayhawk basketball fan. Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Fredenburg, St. Paul, KS and Kathy Giles, Parsons, KS; three grandchildren, Janet Garbrick, Mound City, KS, Michael Sailsbury, McKinney, TX, and Seth Giles, Lawrence, KS; two great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 13, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Oswego. Burial will be in Oswego Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
