Wallace E. "Smokey" Oshel, 67, of Stark, Kansas, passed away Saturday morning, July 18, 2015 at his home.
He was born October 19, 1947 in Paola, Kansas to Hubert E. and Rosetta B. (Wilson) Oshel. As a young boy, he lived in various cities while his father worked in construction as a pipefitter.
During the Vietnam War, he served two years in the United States Army. Upon his honorable discharge, he traveled extensively throughout the United States while working as a pipefitter and boilermaker in oil refinery construction. In 2012, he moved to Stark where he had lived since.
He was a member of the Poor Boys Tractor Club in Stark, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1654 in Chanute, and George L. Hendricks Post No. 102 American Legion in Erie. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends, collecting antique tractors, and in earlier years hunting and fishing.
In 1970, he and Beverly E. Marque were married. They divorced in 1983. He and Shirley Martin were married March 30, 1992. She preceded him in death in September of 2010.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Betty Austin and Patricia Lamb.
Following cremation, memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, July 24, 2015 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
