Walter L. Littlejohn, 84, of Chetopa, passed away at 12:50 a.m., Friday, April 1, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.
He was born June 18, 1931 in Chetopa, Kansas to William C. and Lillie L. (Smith) Littlejohn. As a young boy, he grew up and attended school in Chetopa. During the Korean War, he served in the United States Army.
On October 19, 1951, he and Katherine Martin were married in Bentonville, Arkansas. For many years, the couple lived in Parsons where he was employed for 26 years as a firefighter by the City of Parsons until retiring. He then worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant as a firefighter. While living in Parsons, he attended the Parsons Church of the Nazarene.
In 1997, the couple moved to Chetopa where they attended the First Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Littlejohn, on January 4, 2009.
His hobbies included refinishing furniture and riding horses. In earlier years, Walter was a member of the Parsons Saddle Club.

Jennie Kenworthy Oswego, KS
Willadeen Sprague Cherokee, KS
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.
