Wanda E. Evans, 76, of Altamont, passed away at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, September 28, 2024, at her home.
Wanda Elaine Outain was born on September 30, 1947, to Benjamin and Zandra May (Wines) Outain in Parris Island, South Carolina. Growing up in a military family, Wanda moved with her family throughout the country, settling in Chetopa, Kansas, where Wanda graduated from Chetopa High School in 1967.
For many years, Wanda worked as a seamstress at Fred Ronalds Manufacturing, which was later Signature Sportswear in Parsons. Her favorite job was being a custodian at Bartlett Grade School for several years. After holding both jobs for a time, she retired in 2006.
She attended the First Baptist Church in Oswego. The last several years, Wanda enjoyed going to the many activities at the Altamont Senior Center.
Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She also liked "treasure hunting" at garage sales and discount stores. Scrapbooking, doing arts and crafts, reading, putting together puzzles and solving word games were some of her other favorite hobbies.
On June 12, 1967, Wanda and Richard W. Evans were united in marriage at the United Methodist Church in Chetopa. He preceded her in death on May 6, 2010.

Sherri Hunt and her husband, Bill, of Pittsburg, Kansas
Tonya Williamson and her husband, Tommy, of Oswego, Kansas
Tara Britton of Wichita, Kansas

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard W. Evans; one grandson, Garett Britton; and three brothers, Mike, Sam, and Steve.
The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 3, 2024, at the First Baptist Church of Oswego. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Parsons.
