Wanda J. Myers, 90, of Oswego, passed away at 7:00 a.m., Friday, December 11, 2020, at Oswego Health and Rehab in Oswego, Kansas.
Wanda June Pearce was born on April 8, 1930, to Ray and May (Engelbert) Pearce in rural Mound Valley, Kansas. She grew up and attended school in the Mound Valley area and lived in Labette County her entire life.
On November 3, 1946, Wanda and Ivan W. Myers were united in marriage at the Open Bible Church in Parsons. The first five years of marriage, the couple lived north of Altamont. In 1951, the family moved to rural Oswego, where they farmed and ran a dairy farm. While raising a family of three boys and one girl, Wanda helped run the farm, driving tractors and milking dairy cows.
For over 50 years, Wanda was a faithful member of the Open Bible Church in Parsons. Twenty of those years, she was the Sunday School preschool teacher. She was most recently a member of the First Baptist Church in Altamont.
Her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her family. She also enjoyed sewing, making quilts and embroidering.
Survivors include:
Three sons – David "Bill" Myers and his wife, Joyce, of rural Altamont, Kansas
Daniel Myers and his wife, Janis, of rural Oswego, Kansas
Dale Myers of rural Oswego, Kansas
One daughter – Mary Jarman and her husband, Ron, of rural Oswego, Kansas
Nine grandchildren
Twenty-five great grandchildren
Seven great-great grandchildren
One sister – Edna Sourk of Lenexa, Kansas
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan W. Myers, on February 1, 2009; her parents; two sisters and one brother.
There will be a private family graveside service for Mrs. Myers at Fairview Cemetery in rural Altamont. Friends may call at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Tuesday, December 15, 2020.
Memorials are suggested to Kindred Hospice, the First Baptist Church of Altamont or Ronald McDonald House in Joplin. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
