Warren Dale Mcgown

Warren Dale McGown, 67, of McCune, died at 12:06 p.m., Saturday, June 13, 2020 at his home. He was in his usual health and his death was unexpected.

He was born on December 5, 1952 in Pittsburg, Kansas to Paul and Wilma (Green) McGown. He grew up and attended schools in McCune, graduating from McCune High School in 1970. He later attended Pittsburg State University where he earned his Master's Degree in education and administration fields.

Warren first began his career farming and raising cattle. Later, he began his professional career in education, where he was a teacher and an administrator for many years. Warren worked in USD 247 and USD 505. Upon his retirement from education, he continued to raise cattle, stayed busy working around the farm, and was also a beekeeper. Warren was a member of the McCune Christian Church, President of the Parsons Coin Club, President of his senior class, and was a member of the McCune Alumni Scholarship Committee. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren and going to Grand Lake. He also enjoyed anything sports related, coaching, and spending time outdoors. He was very fortunate to have so many life-long friends that are considered family

On December 29, 1972, he and Karen Kichler were married at the Christian Church in Girard. She survives of the home.

Bo McGown and his wife, Brooke, of Andover, Kansas

One daughter – Becca Perez and her companion, Eddie Dixon, of Parsons

Nine grandchildren – Audrey Perez and her companion, Alan Wetherell; Alexis Perez; Machia, Lea, Houston, and Alaina McGown; Marshall, Easton, and Rylie McGown.

Three great-grandsons – Phoenix, Hayden, and Jaxsyn Wetherell.

One brother – Jerry McGown and his wife, Karen, of Springdale, Arkansas

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 18, 2020 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home. The service can be viewed live on the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will be in the McCune Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
