Warren Milks, 69, of rural Mound Valley, passed from this life at 8:05 p.m., Monday, January 25, 2016 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri following a courageous 31-year battle with heart disease and heart failure.

He was born July 25, 1946 in Parsons, Kansas to Ernest and Carrie (Christine) Milks. He attended Parsons and Labette County schools and graduated in 1964. Following high school, Warren enlisted in the United States Navy where he was an Engineman, maintaining QH-50C Drone Anti-Submarine Helicopters.

He was a lifelong mechanic, ASE world-class technician, and avid drag racer. He fabricated many cars for himself and others, and traveled around the country with family and friends drag racing. Midway through his life, he received a Bachelor's degree from Pittsburg State University and later retired from USD 506 as the Automotive Technology instructor, but never stopped teaching as he enjoyed departing his vast knowledge to his grandchildren whom he adored.

On August 29, 1969, he married Barbara Journot of Parsons. The couple made their first home in Florida. They later moved back to Labette County but continued to vacation in Florida frequently.

In addition to his loving wife, Barbara, he is survived by daughters, Sarah and Joanna; three sisters, one brother, and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. He requested that no services be held and took comfort in family, friends, and the Lord Jesus Christ in his last six years.
