Wayne W. Brunenn, 84, a lifelong farmer and cattleman of rural McCune, died Monday afternoon, November 10, 2014, from injuries sustained in a farming accident near McCune. He was born December 28, 1929 in Chanute, Kansas to Willard Irving and Edna Leona (Hizey) Brunenn. He grew up in Galesburg where he attended school and was a graduate of Galesburg High School. During the Korean War, he served in the United States Air Force from 1952 through 1954. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Southeast Kansas where he began farming and raising cattle. Wayne was a member of the National Farmers Organization (NFO). Farming was his passion. After retirement, he continued to farm with his son, Steve, who will greatly miss his father and mentor. Wayne enjoyed being actively involved in the daily activity of Brunenn Farms. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, visiting with friends and neighbors, reading, and in earlier years playing cards. He and Ruth A. Garretson were married August 5, 1956 in rural McCune. She preceded him in death on February 16, 1993. Survivors include one son, Steve Brunenn and his wife, DeLisa, rural McCune, KS; two grandchildren, Tyler Brunenn and Melissa Leonard; three step-grandchildren, Jill Evans, Nick Martin, and April Walker; one great-granddaughter, Faith Leonard; five step-great-grandchildren, Emma, Jace, Addyson, Bryleigh and Brooklyn; and one brother, Carl Brunenn and his wife, Pat, Springfield, MO. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Wilbur Brunenn; and three sisters, Dorothy, Karen, and Carolyn Brunenn. The family will receive friends from 2-4:00 p.m., on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Private burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Galesburg. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O.
