William Auvigne

William Johnson Auvigne, 88, of Parsons, passed away at 7:20 a.m., December 1, 2019 , at Labette Health.

He was born May 17, 1931, in Parsons, Kansas, to Alfred Eugene and Mae Mabel (Johnson) Auvigne.  As a young boy, he attended St. Patrick's Grade School, East Junior High School and was a 1950 graduate of Parsons High School.  He later attended Parsons Junior College and earned an Associate degree from Kansas City Missouri Junior College.

On May 1, 1951, he enlisted in the United States Army Reserve where he served in the Military Police Corps as clerk in the operations section and was honorably discharged on April 29, 1952.

Mr. Auvigne had various work places throughout his life. From October 1950 - September 1955, he worked at the M-K-T Railroad in the Accounting Department in Parsons; from October 1955 - November 1958, he was employed by Sinclair Oil and Gas Company in the Land and Lease Department in Tulsa, Oklahoma; from January 1959 – March 1964 he worked in the Accounting Department at Continental Oil Company in Kansas City, Missouri; and in September 1964 he was employed by the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center in the Accounting Department until retiring on May 17, 1993.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons.

On June 18, 1966, he and Marietta F. McGown were married at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Parsons.  They later divorced.  He and Dr. Amalia Regina Occeno were married April 15, 1991, in Cassville, Missouri.  She survives of the home.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Eugene Auvigne, July 3, 1964; his mother, Mae Mabel Auvigne, September 14, 1989; one brother, Jack Eugene Auvigne, March 8, 1993; and one sister, Janice Yvonne Auvigne, on March 13, 1926.

The funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 5, 2019 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Parsons.  Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery with military honors provided by the Brown-Bishop Post No. 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Parsons, Kansas.  The rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons where the family will receive friends immediately following the rosary.
