William J. "Bill" Baker

Oswego

William J. "Bill" Baker, 69, of Oswego, passed away at 2:55 p.m., Friday, July 21, 2017 at Oswego Community Hospital.

He was born October 23, 1947 in Independence, Kansas to Howard Max and Lois Mildred (VanCleave) Baker. Bill grew up and attended school in Cherryvale where he graduated from Cherryvale High School in 1965.

He worked for Southwestern Bell in Parsons before moving to the Denver area where he worked for Mountain Bell. In the 1980's, he worked for Koch Hydrocarbon Pipeline Company in North Dakota. Through the years, he also worked at various casinos in security.   Most recently, Bill had worked as a driver for Renzenberger.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, competitive shooting, and attending his niece and nephew's activities. Bill had never met a stranger and was always up for a friendly game of cards.

He was a member of the Altamont and Cherryvale Masonic Lodges, Elks – BPOE Lodge No. 527, and the National Rifle Association.

He and Marjorie Eichhorn were married. They later divorced.

One Brother – Bruce Baker and his wife, Connie, of Dennis, KS

Nephew – Bryce Baker

Niece - Hannah Baker

He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Baker, on February 19, 2007; and one sister, Brenda Baker, on December 29, 1969.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 28, 2017 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Altamont. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Elks – BPOE Lodge No. 527 for youth activities. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
