William H. "Bill" Schneickert

William H. "Bill" Schneickert, 71, of Parsons, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 2:07 p.m., Thursday, July 18, 2013, at Labette Health. He was born September 20, 1941 in Parsons, Kansas, to Charlie T. and Pauline M. (Sevart) Schneickert. He grew up in Parsons where he attended schools and was a 1959 graduate of St. Patrick's High School where he played football. He earned an Associate degree at Parsons Jr. College and also attended Pittsburg State University. On June 1, 1974, he and Margaret A. "Meg" Schmidt were married at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. After college, he worked as a section hand at the Katy Railroad before becoming a pipefitter and welder with Local No. 441 in Frontenac. He also had worked at Machinery Maintenance in Parsons for a time. He was a devoted member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Bill loved giving rosaries to the school children. He enjoyed cars and was past president of the Flatlanders Car Club in Parsons. He also enjoyed collecting stamps and coins. Bill adored his grandchildren and especially enjoyed spending time with them. Survivors include: Wife – Meg Schneickert of the home Two Sons – Charles E. "Chuck" Schneickert and wife, Stephanie Wichita, KS William D. "Billy" Schneickert and wife, Ingrid Parsons, KS One Daughter – Kathy M. Chips and husband, Craig Neodesha, KS Eight Grandchildren – Megan, Sarah and Emily Chips Henry, Oliver and Benjamin Schneickert Sydney and Steven Schneickert One Sister – Peggy Dawson and husband, Thomas Valley Center, KS He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Schneickert, on January 17, 1992; his mother, Pauline Schneickert, on February 8, 2009; and one brother, Charlie T. Schneickert, Jr. The funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m., Monday, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons where the family will receive friends immediately following the rosary. Memorials are suggested to St. Patrick's School Endowment Fund. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
