William L. "Bill" Hoisington, 83, of Parsons, passed away at 8:10 AM, Sunday, June 9, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Parsons.
He was born June 15, 1935 in Wichita, Kansas, the son of James H. and Opal Helen (Campbell) Hoisington. Bill grew up and attended schools in Parsons and graduated from the Parsons High School in 1954 where he excelled in football, basketball and track. Following high school, Bill attended Tulsa University and the Pittsburg State Teacher's College for a time. He later received an associate's degree from the Parsons Jr. College.
Bill served in the United States Army for two years and the U.S. Army Reserve for six years. Bill enjoyed watching old westerns. He also enjoyed raising bird dogs, fishing, hunting quail, ducks, goose and prairie chicken. He was a Master Hunter Safety Course Instructor and led the first Hunter Safety Course given in Parsons.
On June 5, 1959, Bill and Sonya Flora were married in Parsons. Sonya preceded him in death on April 6, 2008.

Brandon Hoisington of Maumelle, Arkansas
Samuel Hoisington of Washington, D.C.
William Hoisington of Fayetteville, Arkansas
Abigail Hoisington of Rogers, Arkansas
Emily Hoisington of Rogers, Arkansas
Mickey Hoisington of Parsons, Kansas
Three Great-Grandchildren
One Sister - Jayne Hayan and her husband, Don, of California
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sonya, and his parents.
There will be a Celebration of Life visitation from 6 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home. Burial will take place at a later time at Oakwood Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Proud Animal Lovers Shelter (PALS). These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
