Wilma W.H. Addock

Wilma W. H. Addock, 84, of rural Republic, Ohio, passed away Tuesday morning, April 17, 2007, at St. Francis Home in Tiffin, Ohio.

She was born on November 7, 1922, to Charles G. and Ruth E. (Waugh) Hagan. She was raised in Southeast Kansas, graduated from LCCHS, taught in a one room school (Rosedale), and worked at a defense plant in Wichita before enlisting in the U. S. Navy. She served our country as a WAVE, during most of WWII, as a payroll officer at the Great Lakes Naval Training Station. It was there that she met and married her husband of 45 years, James E. Addock.

Mrs. Addock held a BA in business management, and was part owner/manager of Ferree Plastics in Lockport, N.Y. for nearly three decades, taking early retirement in 1981 to care for her ailing husband.

She is survived by a sister, Berva M. (Hagan) DeCow, of Parsons, Kansas; and two brothers, Billy D. Hagan of St. Charles, Missouri and Daniel L. Hagan of rural Tiffin, Ohio. Mrs. Addock had no children, but took great delight in all of her many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Her life was deeply saddened by the untimely deaths of a nephew, David Hagan, in 1974, and a niece, Cynthia Hagan, in 1985.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, James E. Addock on October 23, 1989; her parents; and a brother, Lynn D. Hagan.

Mrs. Addock was a member of the American Legion. She was a cancer survivor from 1984, and gave generously to the American Cancer Society and St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Memorials to these organizations are requested in lieu of flowers.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., Monday, April 23, 2007, at the funeral home.
