Wilma K. Nading, 82, of Chanute, formerly of Altamont, died at 6:20 p.m., Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Diversicare Nursing Home in Chanute.

She was born April 19, 1931 in McClain County, Oklahoma, to Nancy Jane and Plaze Wood. At the age of 6, she was adopted by Schuyler and Dorcas (Dodson) Britting. As a young child, she attended schools in Aline and Ringwood, Oklahoma. In 1940, she moved with her family to Parsons where she attended Caldwell School and was a 1947 graduate of Labette County Community High School in Altamont.

In 1947, she married Lysle Raymond Dixon. During their marriage, they lived near Bender Mound, in Parsons and also Chanute. Wilma worked as a nurse's aide at Mercy Hospital while living in Parsons. The couple divorced in 1951. Following their divorce, she then returned to Parsons. On January 13, 1956, she married Kenneth G. Nading. In 1957, they moved to Altamont and in 1978 to Parsons. He preceded her in death on November 30, 1982. Following her husband's death, she returned to Altamont where she worked in adult care before moving to Chanute in September of 1998. While living in Chanute, she was employed by Guest Home Estates where she worked as a cook. In November of 2010, she moved to Humboldt where she lived until returning to Chanute in 2013.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church and Rebekah Lodge #581, both in Altamont.

Two Daughters – Ella Jane Webster Parsons, KS
Wilma Kathleen Nading Chanute, KS
Seventeen Grandchildren
Twenty-Five Great-Grandchildren
Five Great-Great-Grandchildren
One Brother – George Britting California
One Sister – JoAnn Wood

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Janice (Dixon) Pape; and two brothers, Jim and Edwin Wood.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Altamont. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont.
