Zachary D. Steig

Zachary Steig, 26, of rural Cherryvale, passed away the afternoon of Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Labette Health in Parsons.

Zachary Dennis Steig was born on January 4, 1998, in Wichita, Kansas.  His life was a testament of love.  As a baby, Zachary was the victim of Shaken Baby Syndrome.  He was adopted by his caregiver, Amy Steig, who saw God's gift of life in Zachary.  When he was young, Amy would make presentations in parenting classes showing the effects of Shaken Baby Syndrome, but also to demonstrate the value of all life.  He grew up in rural Cherryvale and attended school at Altamont Grade School and graduated from Labette County High School in 2016.  Following high school, he did some extended learning at Labette County.

His aunt and uncle and guardians – Chris and Bobbi Steig, of the home

Two brothers – William Steig and Jett Steig

One sister – Ayla Steig

Two cousins that are like sisters – Elizabeth K. Steig and Samantha Steig

Two cousins – Emilee May and Lydia May

His grandmother – Elizabeth Ellen Steig

Two aunts – Becky McDaniel and her husband, Zach; and Denise Steig

His special nurses – Chelsey Buntin and Diana Arnett

He was preceded in death by his mother, Amy Steig, on July 26, 2013; and his grandfather, Dennis Steig.

Zachary's family is very grateful for his many caregivers, including nurses, SKIL workers, teachers and everyone who cared for him.

There will be a graveside service at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 8, 2024, at Harmony Grove Cemetery in rural Dennis.  Cremation is under the care of the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Parsons.
