Zachary A. "Zach" Cruse, 16, of Parsons, passed away Monday, March 6, 2017.
He was born December 12, 2000 in Parsons, Kansas to Brent A. and Shelly C. (Landis) Cruse. Zach attended Lincoln Elementary School, Guthridge Elementary School, Parsons Middle School, and was currently a sophomore at Parsons High School.
He was presently employed by the Daylight Do-Nut Shop in Parsons. Zach enjoyed attending the Parsons Nazarene Church, fishing, spending time outdoors, and volunteering at the Remnant Café. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, the KU Jayhawks, and Dale Earnhart, Jr. While attending Parsons High School, Zach had earned a varsity letter in tennis and had participated in the regional tournament.
Survivors include his father, Brent Cruse, of Parsons, KS; mother, Shelly Cruse and her companion, Travis Blevins, of Parsons, KS; one sister, Lauren Stone of Charlottesville, VA; a nephew, Jake Hensley; maternal grandparents, Sam and Diane Umphenour, of Pittsburg, KS, and David and Teresa Blevins, of Parsons, KS; his friend who was like a brother, Carlos Collins; his girlfriend, Maya Espeseth; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Betty Cruse; and his maternal great-grandparents, John and Patricia Patterson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 13, 2017 at the Parsons Nazarene Church. Burial will be at Springhill Cemetery near Parsons. Friends may call at their convenience from noon through 8:00 p.m., Sunday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Friends are invited to dress casually and to wear Kansas Jayhawk or Dallas Cowboy attire.
