Darrell L. Nelson

Darrell L. Nelson, 67, of Parsons, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017 near Parsons.

He was born January 28, 1950 in Mound Valley, Kansas to Andy J. and Regena (Hoppock) Nelson. He grew up and attended Union 1 Elementary School in Mound Valley and was a 1968 graduate of Labette County High School in Altamont.

Darrell was employed by Sun Graphics in Parsons for 42 years as a computer systems operator until retiring. He also farmed and raised livestock.

He was a member of the Mound Valley United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Elks-BPOE Lodge No. 527 in Parsons. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and working with his cattle. Darrell especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and attending their activities.

He and Debbie Tanner were married January 9, 1970 at the Washington Avenue Methodist Church in Parsons. They later divorced.

He was preceded in death by his father, Andy Nelson, on December 20, 2001.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the Mound Valley United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Mound Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m., Friday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
