Greg Forbes

In Loving Memory

Gregory E. Forbes was a co-founder, funeral director and embalmer with Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home since the beginning of the funeral home in 2000. Greg started working in the funeral business at the age of 14 washing cars. He grew up in Parsons and attended Labette Community College and Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma. Greg’s desire to return to his hometown and serve the Parsons Community led him to work on weekends and holidays while in college. He earned a bachelors degree in funeral service in May, 1991. He was a licensed funeral director, embalmer, and life insurance agent. 
Greg was a fourth-generation Parsonian, son of Michael and Evelyn Forbes. He was a member of St. Patricks Catholic Church and a member of the 4th degree Knights of Columbus. Greg was married to Audrey (Scoggins) Forbes who is also a lifelong resident of Parsons, and a Speech Language Pathologist at Labette Health. Together they have four children; Jessica, Joel, Luke, and Lauren; and one grandson, Greyson Michael Hicks.

Marlan Hoffman

Funeral Director / Retired

Marlan L. Hoffman is co-founder and a funeral director and embalmer at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home.  Marlan started his career in funeral service in Wichita in October of 1982. He has been serving families for over 38 years. He married Joy Pate from Clearwater, Kansas in April of 1982 with whom he has three children, a daughter, Erica, two sons, Lynn, and Aaron. He is also a proud Papa with seven grandchildren, Cadence, Braden, Emma, Parker, Christian, Nash and Grace!  

Marlan attended Mid-America Nazarene University, Butler County Community College and Wichita State University. In January of 1984 he went to Kansas City to finish his course of study in mortuary science at Kansas City Kansas Community College. He earned his degree in May, 1985 and is a licensed funeral director, embalmer and Kansas life insurance agent. He is a member and past-president of the Parsons Kiwanis Club.

Marlan is also an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Parsons in addition to several other civic involvements. Marlan is well known in the community for his musical ability. He has been a featured soloist with the Community Chorus performances of Handel’s Messiah and portrayed the role of "Peter" in the Easter musical for several years at the Parsons Municipal Building. For 12 year,  Marlan was the lead singer of the Redemption's Call southern gospel singing group and has written songs performed and recorded by Redemption's Call.   Marlan enjoys all kinds of music and most recently has been singing with the Labette Creek Crooners, a barbershop quartet.  He has sung for many funerals throughout the years. Marlan also enjoys outdoor sports of all kinds, especially hunting and fishing.

Taron J. Davis

Funeral Director / Owner

Taron Davis grew up in Rock Port, MO and graduated from Rock Port R-II. He attended Northwest Missouri State University and Kansas City Community College to obtain his Mortuary Science Degree. In 2010, Taron served his apprenticeship and started his career as a Funeral Director and embalmer at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. He also worked for Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence, KS. To further his career he relocated to work at Baalmann Mortuary in Colby, Oakley, and Atwood, KS. He has also maintained a license by the State of Kansas to sell Life and Health insurance.

In June of 2023, Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home and its branches sold to Mr. Davis. Taron and his family have enjoyed the transition to Parsons and look forward to the opportunity of owning/managing a business, while serving the families and the communities in Southeastern Kansas.

Taron has been married since 2016 to his wife Elizabeth and just celebrated the one year birthday of their daughter, Layla. The family happily resides in Parsons. In his spare time, he enjoys being with his family and friends, cooking and grilling, weightlifting, playing sports, and being involved in the local community.

Kristen Bradbury

Office Manager

Kristen (O’Connor) Bradbury was raised on a farm northwest of Parsons.  After graduating from Labette County High School, she earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration from Kansas Newman College, now Newman University, in Wichita.  While working in the Admissions Office at Newman, she met her husband.  His work took them from Wichita to the Fort Worth area before they settled back in Parsons in 2003.  For a number of years, she was full time mother to her five daughters, returning to the workforce full time as the secretary at St. Patrick Catholic School in Parsons.  She joined the funeral home staff in April 2019.

She is a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.  She loves that her time, interests and activities center around her five daughters, two sons-in-law and one grandson.
